Rail strikes (including associated TfL closures) from 1st - 9th October
The ASLEF, RMT and TSSA unions have announced strikes which will affect services provided by National Rail train companies and Transport for London services on 1, 5 and 8 October.
In addition, a planned closure of the Piccadilly line to Heathrow Airport on 1 and 2 October will cause disruption.
Below we have put together a summary of which services are running on each day, as well as useful links to help you get around if you need to.
Saturday 1 October
National Rail
There will be a very limited service on the National Rail network, with no service at all in some places. Please only travel by train if your journey is absolutely necessary, plan ahead and check before you travel.

Transport for London
Most TfL services will continue to run during the National Rail strike but there will be some disruption to London Overground, London Underground and Elizabeth line services.
The Night Overground for Friday 30 September will run until around 04:00 on Saturday 1 October, which is an earlier finish than normal. There will then be no service on the entire London Overground network from around 04:00.
On the Bakerloo line, there will be a limited service between Queens Park and Harrow & Wealdstone between 08:00 and 18:00 with no service outside these times.
On the District line, limited services will run between 07:15 and 18:30 between Wimbledon and Parsons Green, and between Richmond and Turnham Green. Minor delays are expected from 18:00 from Parsons Green to Upminster.
The central section of the Elizabeth line between Paddington and Abbey Wood will run a normal service until 17:45 and then a reduced service. There will be a reduced service on the eastern section between Liverpool Street and Shenfield, with trains only running between 07:30 and 17:30. Please see the next section for details of services between Paddington and Reading/Heathrow.
Travelling to or from Heathrow airport?
On Saturday 1 October, services to and from Heathrow Airport are affected by the strikes and by planned engineering works on the Piccadilly line.
There will be no service on the Piccadilly line between Acton Town and Heathrow. Between 00:45 and 04:30, there will be no Night Tube service between Hammersmith and Heathrow (all terminals). From 04:30 there will be no service between Acton Town and Heathrow.
Replacement bus services will run to Heathrow from both Acton Town and Hammersmith.
There will be a reduced service on the western section of the Elizabeth line between Paddington and Reading/Heathrow, and trains will only be running between 07:40 and 17:10.
If you are travelling to and from Heathrow, TfL advise that you use the Elizabeth line at the times which is open, or the rail replacement bus services.

Travelling to the London Marathon?
If you were planning to collect your Event Pack from the TCS London Marathon Running Show at ExCel London on Saturday, please note that there will be no Southeastern services. London Underground, London Buses and the DLR that serve the ExCel are unaffected by industrial action. Please plan to collect your Event Pack before 17:30.
Sunday 2 October
National Rail
Rail services will start later than usual on the morning of 2 October. If you need to travel it’s worth checking the train provider’s website and National Rail Enquiries.
Transport for London
Services will start slightly later on the London Overground, Bakerloo and District lines, with a good service expected by late morning.
Elizabeth line services will start at around 06:30 between Liverpool Street and Shenfield. The Elizabeth line from Paddington to Abbey Wood does not currently run on Sundays. Please see the next section for details of services between Paddington and Reading/Heathrow.

Travelling to or from Heathrow airport?
Services to and from Heathrow Airport are affected by the strikes and by planned engineering works on the Piccadilly line.
There will be no service on the Piccadilly line between Acton Town and Heathrow due to planned works. Replacement bus services will run from both Acton Town and Hammersmith.
There will be no Elizabeth line between Paddington and Reading/Heathrow until around 08:00 on Sunday 2 October.
If you are travelling to and from Heathrow, TfL advise that you use the Elizabeth line at the times which is open, or the rail replacement bus services.
Travelling to the London Marathon?
On the morning of 2 October, services will start later than normal. Southeastern will be running a special timetable to support the London Marathon and trains will run from London terminals towards Greenwich from around 07.00.
Wednesday 5 October
National Rail
There will be a very limited service on the National Rail network, with no service at all in some places. Please only travel by train if your journey is absolutely necessary, plan ahead and check before you travel.

Thursday 6 October
National Rail
Rail services will start later than usual on 6 October. If you need to travel it’s worth checking the train provider’s website and National Rail Enquiries.
The vast majority of train services on Great Western Railway will not be running due to industrial action by the TSSA. You can find out more information about this on GWR’s website.
There will be a significantly reduced train service on East Midlands Railway due to strike action by the Unite union. You can find out more on their website.
No trains will run on the Heathrow Express after 9pm. The final service departures are 8.55pm from London Paddington and 8.57pm from Heathrow Airport Terminal 5. More information can be found on their website.
Friday 7 October
National Rail
The vast majority of train services on Great Western Railway will not be running due to industrial action by the TSSA. You can find out more information about this on GWR’s website.
There will be a significantly reduced train service on East Midlands Railway due to strike action by the Unite union. You can find out more on their website.
No trains will run on the Heathrow Express before 7am but will run as usual after this point until the end of the day. More information can be found on their website.
